My work is about creating abstract images that stand for themselves. The imagery is inspired by patterns and shapes all around me – natural and urban forms, shadows, and patterns. I like to work large. I love the physicality and the movement it requires of me and the challenge of creating coherence across a large space. I fight with every painting at some point in its development. It is at this point that I am most driven as a painter. What the viewer sees on the final canvas covers multiple layers of experimentation and change.
